HRTPO Board to Meet September 16 in Lake Placid
The Heartland Regional Transportation Planning Organization (HRTPO) Board will meet on Wednesday, September 16, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at the Town of Lake Placid Government Center, 1069 US 27, Lake Placid. The meeting is open to the public and will include updates from the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT), several transportation safety items, amendments to the Transportation Improvement Program, and discussion of how the HRTPO evaluates future project priorities.
Keith Robbins, FDOT District One Safety Administrator, will present the District One Safety Strategic Plan. The plan provides a roadmap for reducing fatal and serious-injury crashes and is organized around three primary goals: Advancing a Traffic Safety Culture, Strengthening Partner Engagement, and Reinforcing Safety Successes.
The Board will also consider adopting the HRTPO's 2027 highway safety performance targets. These federally required measures track fatalities, serious injuries, fatality and serious-injury rates, and fatalities and serious injuries involving people walking and bicycling.
The Board will consider amendments to the FY 2026/27–2030/31 Transportation Improvement Program (TIP), the HRTPO's five-year program of funded transportation projects including annual Roll Forward Report, which incorporates projects or project phases that were not committed during the previous state fiscal year and have carried forward into FY 2026/27.
