Nighttime Lane Closures on S.R. 17 Beginning November 2ND at Kenilworth Boulevard

HIGHLANDS COUNTY, Fla. – The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) advises motorists of upcoming nighttime lane closures on S.R. 17 beginning Monday, November 2, 2026, at 9 p.m., for milling and resurfacing operations.

Crews will begin nighttime milling and paving operations on S.R. 17 at Kenilworth Boulevard and continue to Sebring Parkway. Paving operations will then transition to daytime hours, continuing from Sebring Parkway to Main Street in the City of Avon Park. Motorists should expect intermittent lane closures, possible traffic delays, and construction equipment in the work zone as operations progress.

Parking along S.R. 17 near Sebring Circle will be limited during paving operations. Motorists, residents, and visitors are encouraged to plan their travel and parking arrangements accordingly and allow additional travel time.

Drivers should use caution, reduce speed, and follow posted traffic control signs while traveling through the work zone. Motorists should also remain alert for construction crews and equipment in the area.

This work is part of the S.R. 17 roadway improvement project from C.R. 17 (Kenilworth Boulevard) to east of U.S. 98/U.S. 27 and from south of Lake Verona Boulevard to south of Delaney Avenue in Highlands County.

All work is weather permitting. The overall project is expected to be completed in summer of 2027.
